Highlights of 2020 Open Generation 5G Summit

“Our view on openness is that openness isn’t a threat. It’s a way to solve complex problems by bringing all the parties to the table. It’s companies like Microsoft, Azure, and Affirmed. It’s the FCC coming to the table with policy. It’s academia coming to the table. It’s even our competitors coming to the table. We have to want to solve the problem for the good of the value creation. I think that’s what we need to keep our focus on. Focus on value creation, not value retention where everyone is protectionist.” – Marcus Weldon
“I think we can spend a lot of time writing standards for every imaginable application of 5G, but unless we actually build those applications and test those standards, they don’t mean much. So I think it’s very important that we prioritize where we spend our time in the standards development and technology development and prototyping and testing to really focus around use cases that’ll bring real economic opportunity to the United States.” – Charles Clancy
